How We Restore & Repaint

Your Amdega Conservatory

This page explains the processes we use to restore your Amdega or hardwood conservatory, orangery, pool house, summer house or garden room.

The works schedule for a painted conservatory:

1. The process begins by completely cleaning your Amdega or hardwood conservatory with specially formulated solutions which not only cleans your conservatory but also acts as a degreaser which prepares the wood for filling and sanding.

2. Secondly, we replace any rotten timber that maybe beyond repair such as window frames, sills, beads and door panels. In most cases small areas of rot can be treated effectively. We do this process by completely drying the timber out and then treating the area with an effective wood hardener which prepares the area for an epoxy resin, two-part wood filler, completing the process to an undetectable finish. Your conservatory is now ready for sanding.

3. At this point, all window and door furniture will be removed in preparation for sanding and painting if the interior is to be painted.

4. Your hardwood conservatory will now be thoroughly sanded and final preparations will be made for priming and undercoating using only the highest quality Sikkens paints.

5. Once priming and undercoating are complete, we will then follow up with a final topcoat, restoring your conservatory to its former glory.

The works schedule for a stained conservatory

1. The process begins by completely cleaning your Amdega conservatory with specially formulated solutions which not only cleans your conservatory but also acts as a degreaser which helps to prepare the wood for staining.

2. Secondly, we then replace any rotten timber that maybe beyond repair. For example, window frames, sills, beads and door panels. In most cases small areas of rot can be treated effectively. We do this process by completely drying the timber out and then treating the area with an effective wood hardener. This prepares the area for an epoxy resin, two-part wood filler, completing the process to an undetectable finish. Your conservatory is now ready for sanding.

3. At this point, all window and door furniture wil be removed in preparation for sanding and staining if the interior is to be done.

4. Your conservatory will now be thoroughly sanded. This is done using different grades of wire wool, starting with a coarse grade where required, working down to a finer grade until your conservatory is fully prepapred for staining.

5. Staining will begin by starting with any bare or replaced wood being coated first unil the correct shade is achieved, then the whole conservatory will then have two further coats of stain to complete the process.
